I'm definitely not new to blogging, however, I never actually posted anything online. My blogs have been saved in a word document on my computer, waiting for people to read it, but nobody ever will. I've hesitated because I didn't know if people wanted to read what I was writing, or because I wasn't sure if my writing was good enough for a blog.
I've come to the realization that I need to blog for myself. Yes, it would be great to have a following of readers and my writing to be amazing but that will only come with practice. Another thing that held me back was my lack of knowing what to write about. So I'm just going to write.
I'm sitting in my living room, on my dining table, in Denver, Colorado with a skylight above me streaming light onto the dead daisies that have been sitting on my kitchen table for the past two weeks. Dead flowers have a beauty to them that is unappreciated by many. I should probably throw them away, but I like having flowers in the house at all times. And I do like changing them up and bringing in fresh flowers too. These particular flowers are a bright purple with lime green middles. I'm not sure what the middle is called. I picked them because of the purple and lime green hues and how they looked so fresh together, especially because the fall season has started.
It is October 13th, and 80 degrees here in Denver. I know back home, it is much colder. Back home is Connecticut. The weather surprisingly is amazing out here. Before moving, I had no idea the temperatures would be warmer, and the sun always shining. It just goes to show that you should always believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.
My time in Denver so far has been eye opening, and relaxing. The pace of life out here is so different from back home. It's slower. The people are nice and it seems like theres always something to do downtown, whether it's a concert, improv comedy show, or just a great happy hour. We live right in the heart of downtown so needless to say spending money has not been an issue.
I'm not trying to make this blog into a diary. But I would like to write just to practice easing into writing more naturally. So this has been a good start and I think I'll end it here. Til next time, my rant is over about a whole bunch of random things (dead flowers and the denver sunshine).
